"A Taste of Syria: Celebrating Syrian Culture and New Lives in America" will feature dinner by Tanabel, a Brooklyn-based company that works with refugee women from across the Middle East and a talk with Qutaiba Idlbi, an activist from Damascus who will speak about his experiences in the war and since moving to New York. This event is presented by Brooklyn Jews, OneTable, and the CBE Refugee Task Force.
Join us for a whiskey l'chaim and Brooklyn Jews Shabbat service at 6:30pm, with this dinner to follow! If you'd like to come just for dinner, we'll begin right after services around 7:40. Please note: the price of this meal ensures that the women of Tanabel receive fair and meaningful pay for their work.
Tanabel is a food company that works with refugee women from across the Middle East, preparing and preserving their traditional recipes. We host pop-up dinners, cater events and teach cooking classes! Our authentic, generous and delicious meals allow our cooks to share a taste of home with their new community and provide them with meaningful and empowering employment.
