Intro To Judaism

November to May (beginning again in November, 2019).

Tuesday nights, 7:30pm

This is an overview course in broad strokes about Jewish life, culture, faith, and thought. Designed in a 24-week module, this course gives learners a solid background to the ideas, practices, and expressions of Jewish life from ancient times to the present.

Hebrew Prayer Workshop

Twice-a-year (beginning again in February, 2019).

This eight-week series is designed to make participants feel totally comfortable in a Friday night Shabbat service. We will explore the basic rubric of the service, the meaning of the prayers and the origin of where it all came from. Over the course of these sessions, participants sing and learn melodies both for Shabbat with Brooklyn Jews and in traditional Jewish settings.

Parshat HaShavua (Weekly Torah Portion)

Wednesday nights, 7:30pm

This ongoing course examines the weekly Torah portion *almost* every Wednesday night. Rabbi Matt Green pairs sections of the Torah portion with rabbinic commentaries, midrashim, and relevant Talmudic texts. All are welcome to participate and no prior knowledge or assignment is required.
